Avara Welcomes Fred Reykdal, Senior Project Manager, to lead our new ground up construction division.
Our Avara team members are what make Avara Construction a wonderful place to work! This month, we’d like to introduce you to our newest team member, Fred Reykdal.
Fred always knew he would be in construction and felt as thouh he was “built for it.” Working in his parent’s flooring store gave Fred his first introduction to construction. The decision to pursue a degree in Construction Management at the University of Washington seemed like a natural next step.
Once out of college, Fred joined the Redhawk Group as Project Engineer, climbing to Senior Project Manager and Director of Operations. During his thirteen years at the Redhawk Group, Fred oversaw a diverse set of ground up construction projects across retail, multi-tenant residential, hospitality, athletic clubs, and beyond.
When we asked Fred which project was his favorite, he said, “The (167 Room) Hampton Inn at Northgate. It was a very challenging project, requiring me to navigate subcontractor issues while sticking to an aggressive budget and schedule. The bumps along the way made receiving the 2017 ABC Excellence in Construction Award for Commercial Construction even sweeter.”
At Avara Construction, we value people who make the best of a challenge, and Fred definitely fits that criteria. We also admire his commitment to transparency, timely communication, and desire to treat everyone equitably. These are not only commendable traits—they make Fred a fantastic fit for the Avara team.
“I prefer to over-communicate with clients. While everyone would prefer that things go as plan, things happen. A great adage I learned along the way is that ‘bad news doesn’t get better with time.’ Transparency with pricing, data, and people go a long way in establishing a fair and credible reputation in this industry.”
Avara Construction is excited to kick off a new ground up construction division with Fred a key part of leading the team. Fred’s commitment to his work, excellent treatment of subcontractors, and abundant energy are wonderful assets to Avara’s clients. With all of the necessary systems in place, the team is ready and excited to tackle large-scale ground up projects such as mixed-use buildings, apartment buildings, and commercial office buildings.
Fred, a Washington native, makes another outdoorsy addition to Avara. His hobbies include skiing, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time with his family and their two golden retrievers. Fred’s wife, Samantha, is his high school sweetheart, and they have two young girls who accompany them when traveling and skiing.
Avara wishes you a warm welcome to the team, Fred!
